(DirtyMouth Communications) – Saturday, October 6th’s Dirt Classic 5 at Lincoln Speedway will now pay tribute to Central Pennsylvania driver Greg Hodnett by increasing the winner’s share of the purse from $25,000 to $27,000 thanks to the Dirt Classic promoting team and Lincoln Speedway.
The race, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, September 22nd and postponed until this weekend, will remain the highest paying unsanctioned race for 410 sprint cars in Pennsylvania with $27,000 on the line for the Dirt Classic champion and $1,500 to start the A-Main.
In the four-year history of this marquee event, the field has averaged more than 44 cars for a stout field of both local competitors and competitive traveling teams. This weekend’s event is expected to be no different.
Past winners include Stevie Smith, Brian Montieth and Lance Dewease. This year’s Golden Ticket Holder is Tim Shaffer, who won the Dirt Classic Ohio at Attica Raceway Park. Shaffer is guaranteed a starting spot in Saturday’s A-Main event.
The Dirt Classic’s unique format attracts both competitive drivers and fans. The night starts out with two-lap qualifying, which lines up one set of heat races straight up and inverts a second set of heat races. The results of time trials and the heats determine a points total for the drivers, who then advance to the A, B or C mains.
The pit gates and will call will both open this Saturday at 3:30pm and advanced general admission ticket holders will be admitted at 3:45pm. Ticket booths will open at 4:00pm and racing starts at 7:00pm.
All advanced tickets from the Saturday, September 22nd race date will be honored. Reserved seats are still available but limited, so get yours fast before they sell out!
